Proposal No. R2018–64, Proclamation — Municipal Clerks Week A Resolution of the Pierce County Council and Executive Proclaiming the Week of May 6–12, 2018, as “Municipal Clerks Week” in Pierce County, Washington. For final consideration.

The unsung heroes of local government are our clerks. They’re the folks the make the trains run on time while the rest of us get the accolades. They put bills into proper formats, set up for meetings, and make sure our process is transparent.

Pierce County Airports Workshop
Presenters: Lauren Behm, Planning and Public Works, and Select Airport Users /Stakeholders

Our general aviation airports are in an interesting point in their history. While serving an important purpose and undoubtedly an asset to Pierce County, the facility needs are greater than the revenue generated by leases. This special meeting of the EID Committee is to discuss options and the future of these facilities.

WSAC Legislative Steering Committee meeting with Gov. Inslee.

Washington State Association of Counties Retreat

The Legislative Steering Committee, which I co-chair, and Board of Directors, will have its annual planning meeting.

You may recall that we’ve been considering a more aggressive strategy with the Legislature. I’ve been part of a workgroup of Councilmembers, Commissioners, prosecutors, and staff to develop a recommendation for a unified Legislative, Communication, and Litigation strategy. The idea is that each component would be mutually reinforcing.

If the board supports our recommendation you will see us get much louder over the course of the summer and fall about the Legislature damaging our ability to deliver public safety and justice services.

My Weekly Calendar

Last year we got a request for my forward looking calendar. Rather than have staff waste their time on public record requests, I decided to publish screenshots. If you have questions, feel free to call. Keep in mind, my schedule isn’t static. Things will get added, deleted, changed, etc. There are conflicts that I have to pick between. But if people want to see where I’m at and who I meet with, that’s fine by me.
