Quarterly Budget Report
Presenter: Gary Robinson, Director of Finance, Finance Department

These quarterly reports are a way to stay on top of changes in revenue forecast or expenses. While we do see some fluctuation in the former, it’s the latter that we pay particularly close attention to. If a department was off in their estimate, the sooner we catch it, the smaller the problem it creates.

Proposal №2018–15s, Countywide Planning Policies An Ordinance of the Pierce County Council Acknowledging its Approval of Proposed Policies in the Pierce County Countywide Planning Policies as Recommended by the Pierce County Regional Council; Authorizing the Pierce County Executive to Execute Interlocal Agreements with the Cities and Towns of Pierce County to Ratify the Proposed Amendments; Amending Chapter 19D.240 of the Pierce County Code, “Pierce County Countywide Planning Policies,” Upon Ratification; and Adopting Findings of Fact.

Sponsored by: Councilmembers Connie Ladenburg and Derek Young

The Countywide Planning Policies are rules that apply to both the County and our constituent cities. They establish the rules for distribution of growth and where it may happen.

This amendment is about banking urban growth area (UGA). We don’t want to add additional UGA to Pierce County as was attempted in previous years. However, there are areas that would be moved in or out of the UGA based on information we have now like development in the area pre-Growth Management Act, critical areas that’s not conducive to urban densities, coherent boundaries, etc.

This will allow removal of an area from the UGA to be “banked” for a future addition to a city that needs new capacity.

8:00am SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PIERCE COUNTY COUNCIL

For the purpose of touring Community Transit Facilities, specifically the bus rapid transit (BRT) route in Snohomish County. The idea is to get a sense of how it operates while we consider development of a BRT on Hwy 7.

So basically we’ll be on a tour bus with city councilmembers and staff up to Snohomish County. Obviously it will not be televised.

My Weekly Calendar

Last year we got a request for my forward looking calendar. Rather than have staff waste their time on public record requests, I decided to publish screenshots. If you have questions, feel free to call. Keep in mind, my schedule isn’t static. Things will get added, deleted, changed, etc. There are conflicts that I have to pick between. But if people want to see where I’m at and who I meet with, that’s fine by me.
