Proposal №2019–97s, Affordable Housing Incentives

This is a carryover from last year. Unfortunately after a bout with the flu and the holidays, I haven’t been able to work with staff to develop the changes I’d like to see. I also think the bill title’s narrowness may preclude some of the other changes I’d like to make and will come back with another to encourage more access to affordable housing.
As it currently stands the bill would:
- Eliminate limitations to fee waiver program
- Broaden density incentives
- More infill incentives
- Reducing parking requirements near transit

Proposal No. R2019–166, Appointments to External Boards and Commissions for 2020

Last week we made appointments to Council leadership which I’ll join as Executive Pro Tempore. Don’t let the fancy Latin fool you. It just means I’ll serve on the Council’s Rules Committee which oversees administration of the office, scheduling, and budget. In the rare case of the Executive’s absence, I may sign some paperwork or whatnot, but that’s about it.
This week we make appointments to our external boards. Since we don’t have new members, I don’t expect many major changes from previous years. I’ll still likely continue to serve on the following:
Alliance for a Healthy Sound — Executive Board
Pierce County Regional Council
Puget Sound Regional Council Executive Board
Puget Sound Regional Council Growth Management Policy Board
Rainier Communications Commission
Tacoma-Pierce County Health Board
Washington State Association of Counties, Legislative Steering Committee
Water Utility Coordinating Committee
West Central Local Integrating Organization (LIO)
Zoo and Trek Authority (ZTA)
The other external boards I’m part of are appointed by other agencies.

A couple of years ago we got a request for my forward-looking calendar. Rather than have staff waste their time on public record requests, I decided to publish screenshots. Now I’m adding a link to the calendar as well. If you have questions, feel free to call. Keep in mind, my schedule isn’t static. Things will get added, deleted, changed, etc. There are conflicts that I have to pick between. But if people want to see where I’m at and who I meet with, that’s fine by me.
