This presentation will set up our long range planning goals for the year.
Proposal №2017–2, An Ordinance of the Pierce County Council Adopting Amendments to the Pierce County Development Regulations; Amending Pierce County Code Chapter 18.25, “Definitions,” and Title 18E, “Development Regulations — Critical Areas,” to Address Flood Hazard Area Regulations; Adopting Additional Channel Migration Zones, Adopting the New FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Study, and Providing Needed Clarifications and Updates; Adopting Findings of Fact; and Setting an Effective Date.
Sponsored by: Councilmember Derek Young
There’s been a ton of outreach on this issue so if you’re affected, you likely already know what this all about. Basically, if we don’t adopt this ordinance, our citizens won’t be able to purchase flood insurance. In many cases, particularly in marine environments, we successfully pushed back on some of FEMA’s early determinations.

A special 4 hour study session to learn about Robert’s Rules of Order… with toy dinosaurs.
No, I am not making this up.

Nothing exciting, but there will be a meeting. Probably brief. With the committees in action, expect more work to make it’s way to the full Council soon.
Friday, FEBRUARY 10th, 2017
9:30am Special Meeting of the Budget Ad Hoc Committee
No agenda yet. This is the committee that will take a deep dive into the budget looking for possible savings and efficiencies that can fund behavioral health and/or public safety needs.
I would imagine that this first meeting will mostly be about laying out the ground work for the year.
