3:00pm County Council Meeting

Council meetings are audio recorded and cablecast from gavel to gavel. Meetings are broadcast live and replayed beginning the next day on channel 22 (Comcast and Click! Network) and on channel 20 (Rainier Connect). Video archives are available at www.piercecountytv.org Audio equipment is available for the hearing impaired. Please contact the receptionist for assistance.

This will actually be the first of two full Council meetings this week. The second is Chair Richardson’s in-district meeting which will be held on Anderson Island.

We’re also operating on a number of Councilmembers out for the week. That’s the reason for the brief calendar.

Proposal №2017–46, Transfer of Law Library Personnel to Pierce County An Ordinance of the Pierce County Council Authorizing a Temporary One-Time Limited Exemption From the Provisions of Article 7 of the Pierce County Charter, “Personnel System,” and Title 3 of the Pierce County Code, “Personnel,” to Facilitate the Transfer of Personnel of the Pierce County Law Library to Pierce County, Pursuant to the Exemption Authority Set Forth in Section 7.20(1)(h) of the Pierce County Charter, and Recognizing the Authority of the Board of Law Library Trustees to Establish and Apply its Policies Governing Personnel and Operational Issues, Pursuant to Chapter 27.24 of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW).

Sponsored by: Councilmember Douglas G. Richardson

When the new Executive took over his staff noticed that the County was providing administrative services to multi-jurisdiction agencies and other outside bodies without supervisory controls. This isn’t an uncommon setup. For sake of efficiency, it doesn’t make sense to set up a separate bureaucracy for administration with small agencies, but that can create some liability issues without the County having a normal employer/employee relationship.

This is the first in what I expect to be a series of these ordinances to clean that system up.

6:00pm Special County Council Meeting

District Council meetings are recorded and replayed on channel 22 (Comcast and Click! Network) and on channel 20 (Rainier Connect). Electronic meeting material can be accessed at www.piercecountywa.org/councilcommittees.

Anderson Island Historical Society Archival Building
9306 Otso Point Road Anderson Island, Washington (District №6)

The New Archival Building — Presentation by the Anderson Island Historical Society

Anderson Island Citizens Advisory Board — Presentation by Pat Owen

Update on Anderson Island Projects — Planning and Public Works Department

Next Generation 911 — Anderson Island Addressing Update — Presentation by Ray Clark, Planning and Public Works Department
Fox Island and Key Peninsula residents may want to check this presentation out when it’s posted online. Those areas are also affected by the need to remove/replace the address suffix (FI, KPS, KPN) to accommodate the Next Gen 911 system being rolled out nationwide. I’ll have more on this later.

My Weekly Calendar

Earlier this year we got a request for my forward looking calendar. Rather than have staff waste their time on public record requests, I’m just going to start publishing screen shots. Keep in mind, my schedule isn’t static. Things will get added, deleted, changed, etc. There are conflicts that I have to pick between. But if people want to see where I’m at and who I meet with, that’s fine by me.
